Monday was another great day of Notre Dame athletics as multiple teams competed on big stages.

After breaking the 14-game winning streak of the Hurricanes on Sunday, the Notre Dame baseball team lost a tough one on Monday to Miami to drop the series.

On the links the men’s golf team had a spectacular day at one of the nation’s finest courses, Oak Hill. The squad fired matching 287’s yesterday to hold a seven shot lead entering Tuesday’s final round. After an opening round 71, senior Niall Platt roared back with a bogey-free 66 to hold the lead with just 18 holes to play. The event ends on Tuesday as the Irish get ready for the ACC Championship.

Now what did we miss …

1. Shipp Cops Another MLS Honor (Soccer By Ives)
Another match, another assist for the Chicago Fire’s Harrison Shipp. In this past week’s games, Shipp and the Fire played the New England Revolution and in the 16th minute, Shipp sent a brilliant through pass to a forward from the Fire, who put it away. Click the link above to read more.

2. Nix With A High Motor (USA Today)
Something that may Irish football fans already knew is becoming more evident for NFL scouts and pundits with each passing workout from the man in the middle, Louis Nix III, as they see his high energy and solid movement put on display. Click the link above to read more.

3. Irish O-Line Coming Together (CSN Chicago)
With two gaping holes to fill along the offensive front, the Irish are still working on what the first group of the line will look like come the 2014 season. Click the link above to read more.

Notre Dame-ish Video Of The Day

Be there as the Notre Dame soccer squads take on the teams from the Mexican National Soccer Federation this Friday night.

I also want to give you the opportunity to see the ending of the Boston Marathon yesterday, one of the coolest moments I have ever witnessed.

Did You Know?

Per esteemed local sports reporter (and Notre Dame Monogram winner) Pete Byrne, the 66 shot yesterday by Niall Platt of the Notre Dame men’s golf team at Oak Hill Country Club was in rare company. Last year, when Oak Hill hosted the PGA Championship, only 12 rounds of 66 or better were shot!
